Shalom All. We are currently going into the month of Elul , and many will be observing from August 16th to August 18th, depending on where you are situated and how you have chosen to observe the new moon.
As believers in Lord Jesus Christ/ Yeshua Hamaschiach , we can also appreciate the deeper significance of this month and what it means for us as grafted in believers.
This post is a summary of what I have been learning and researched on the month of Elul. For a more in depth study you can have a look at the following sites:
Today, at sunset marks the start of the third month in Hebrew calendar called Sivan. Depending on where you are situated the new moon may be observed from the 30th to 31st of May. ❤🙏 🎊
Interesting facts about the month of Sivan
In the Torah , it is mentioned simply as the the third month , see Exodus 19:1
The name Sivan is mentioned once in the bible in the book of Esther , see Esther 8:9
On the third day of the month the LORD instructed Moses to “set a boundary”~ (hagbalah) for the people in the preparation for the coming revelation to be given 3 days later, which was the giving of the Torah. See Exodus 19: 9-15
The first five days of the month of Sivan anticipate the day that the Torah was revealed to Israel at Sinai, namely on the 6th of Sivan which was at that time exactly 7 weeks after the Exodus from Egypt. I do not believe its a fixed day as some do, but rather that we always count from the Sabbath of first fruits until the 49th day.
Most importantly this month commemorates the giving of the Holy Spirit/Ruach Ha-kodesh to the followers in Jesus/Yeshua after His ascension to Heaven 😊🎉🙏🎉
Numbers 10-10 : 10 "And in the days of your gladness, and in your feasts, and in your new moons, ye shall sound with the trumpets at your whole-burnt-offerings, and at the sacrifices of your peace-offerings; and there shall be a memorial for you before your God: I [am] the Lord your God.”
Psalm 81- 3 to 4: 3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon, in the glorious day of your feast. 4 For [this] is an ordinance for Israel, and a statute of the God of Jacob.”

The commandment to sanctify the new moon of Sivan reveals our responsibility to sanctify (i.e. observe) biblical time in general. This implies that when we observe the month that the Torah was revealed to Israel , we are infact acknowledging that time itself is rooted in the biblical calendar with its divinely inspired cycle of holy days and feasts (i.e. the moedim).
Happy Rosh Chodesh🎉🎉🎉!! Happy New Moon! This marks the start of the second Hebrew month of Iyyar or Iyar.
Depending on where you are in the world and how you choose to observe, the days vary from 30th April to 2nd May.
I’m very thankful to YHWH for the past month, I had some hard lessons this month , but thankful for what YHWH has been teaching me and showing me. Even though tough times are ahead for the Body of Christ/Messiah , I have faith that God/Elohim will deliver us out of it all. All Glory to God, He is a good Father, He is so merciful and wonderful. Let us EXALT and PRAISE Him 🤗🤗❤❤🙏🙏🙏.

The new moon is not commanded to be observed, however it does mark the beginning of months and helps us determine the biblical feast days. We are however commanded to blow trumpets to signal the beginning of a new month.
Numbers 10-10 : 10 “And in the days of your gladness, and in your feasts, and in your new moons, ye shall sound with the trumpets at your whole-burnt-offerings, and at the sacrifices of your peace-offerings; and there shall be a memorial for you before your God: I [am] the Lord your God.”

Isaiah 66:23 KJV — And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
Ezekiel 46:1 KJV — Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.

This marks the start of a new year, Nisan/Aviv/Abib. I’m very thankful to YHWH for the past month and year, and I really appreciate even the smallest things Abba has been helping me with to the greater things too!
