Counting the Omer and its Significance as a Biblical Feast

The counting of the omer also commenced with the Feast of Firstfruits at sundown on April 8th.

The main purpose of observing this feast is the anticipation of being engulfed with the Holy Spirit.

Purpose of counting the Omer

  1. It took 50 days to walk from Egypt to Mount Sinai, where Yahweh/God gave the Law to Moses. So we celebrate the saints’ exodus from Egypt until the law/(commandments,  statutes and judgements) were given to Moses.
  2. Celebrate Christ’s death as a sacrifice for our sins until the day of Pentacost, when He gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit.

15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the Sabbath , from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: 16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord.

Leviticus 23:15-16 (KJV)

How to Count the Omer

Count the omer once a day, every day for 50 consecutive days. NOTE : The counting of the omer begins on sundown the day after the Passover Sabbath until sundown on the Feast of Weeks/ Pentacost. So the Passover Sabbath ended at sundown on the 8th of April, so the first day to count is the 8th/9th of April, sundown to sundown.

You could pray this :
Today, 9th of April (before sundown) is the first day of counting the omer. Thank you Father for the blood of the passover lamb, Lord Jesus Christ,Β that allows for our sins to be blotted out, and for Your commandments, statutes, judgements and the Holy Spirit.

The idea is not to follow this as a religion, or a checklist but rather to appreciate God’s appointed times and move away from pagan and manmade feast days πŸ™πŸ™.

May you have a blessed day. Shalom!

Biblical Feasts of God

With the start of the Biblical New Year , we are moving into the first biblical feasts for the year , starting with Passover or Pesach.

I have prepared these slides as a summary of the biblical feast days, their purpose and possible dates. Dates will vary depending on how you observe new moon and which calendar you follow. This is just a guideline, especially if its your first time observing.

This will be my fourth year observing the feasts. I still remember in 2020 , just before Passover started, how I had heard the Lord tell me to mark my calendar and that He wanted me to celebrate His biblical feasts.

Celebrating the biblical feasts has greatly increased my walk with Yahweh. I love celebrating the Lord and I have learned so much from observing them. I believe the feast days are certainly appointed times to spend with God, hear from Him and continue to grow in Him.

The idea is not to follow this as a religion, or a checklist but rather to appreciate God’s appointed times and move away from pagan and manmade feast days πŸ™πŸ™. THERE IS SO MUCH MORE DEEPER AND SPIRITUAL MEANING FOR THE BODY OF CHRIST THAN MECHANICALLY FOLLOWING THIS AS A SET OF RULES. However, we do learn a lot from physically doing and celebrating the feasts; and these are perpetual commandments.

Also, given how things are set up in the world – you may be working on a Sabbath etc, you may not be able to physically remove all the leaven from your house, or you live in a house where not everyone observes the feasts… However , I do believe that our Heavenly Father sees and acknowledges all our efforts and that we should try our best to keep the feasts. β€πŸ™

Happy New Moon – Sivan

Happy Rosh Chodesh!! Happy New Moon !! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ€—β€πŸ™

Today, at sunset marks the start of the third month in Hebrew calendar called Sivan. Depending on where you are situated the new moon may be observed from the 30th to 31st of May. β€πŸ™ 🎊

Interesting facts about the month of Sivan

  1. In the Torah , it is mentioned simply as the the third month , see Exodus 19:1
  2. The name Sivan is mentioned once in the bible in the book of Esther , see Esther 8:9
  3. On the third day of the month the LORD instructed Moses to “set a boundary”~ (hagbalah) for the people in the preparation for the coming revelation to be given 3 days later, which was the giving of the Torah. See Exodus 19: 9-15
  4. The first five days of the month of Sivan anticipate the day that the Torah was revealed to Israel at Sinai, namely on the 6th of Sivan which was at that time exactly 7 weeks after the Exodus from Egypt. I do not believe its a fixed day as some do,  but rather that we always count from the Sabbath of first fruits until the 49th day.
  5. Most importantly this month commemorates the giving of the Holy Spirit/Ruach Ha-kodesh to the followers in Jesus/Yeshua after His ascension to Heaven πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ‰πŸ™πŸŽ‰
Numbers 10-10 : 10 "And in the days of your gladness, and in your feasts, and in your new moons, ye shall sound with the trumpets at your whole-burnt-offerings, and at the sacrifices of your peace-offerings; and there shall be a memorial for you before your God: I [am] the Lord your God.”
Psalm 81- 3 to 4: 3Β Blow the trumpet at the new moon, in the glorious day of your feast.Β 4Β For [this] is an ordinance for Israel, and a statute of the God of Jacob.”

The Purpose of the New Moon

  • πŸ™ Appreciate and thank God for what He is doing in your life
  • ➑️ Repentance
  • ❀ Receive a word from the Lord
  • πŸ™Œ Worship God
  • πŸŽ‰ Have a feast

The commandment to sanctify the new moon of Sivan reveals our responsibility to sanctify (i.e. observe) biblical time in general. This implies that when we observe the month that the Torah was revealed to Israel , we are infact acknowledging that time itself is rooted in the biblical calendar with its divinely inspired cycle of holy days and feasts (i.e. the moedim).

May you have a blessed new moon πŸ€—πŸ™!

Hope in the Lord of Lords and King of Kings

Today , the Lord gave me a confirmation of making this post and encouraging others to continue to Hope in the Lord.

About a day or so ago , in prayer the Lord showed me in psalm 147, through His word how He takes pleasure and delights indeed in those that HOPE in His Mercy, and those that HOPE in Him. I pondered and meditated on these verse, what a wonderful Heavenly Father, we do serve. πŸ€—πŸ˜ŠπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ and I certainly want the Lord to take pleasure and delight in me.

Today in prayer, I got more confirmation as the Lord Jesus Christ led me to read psalms 71 and 78.

These are more verses from psalm 71 and 78 of Hoping in the Lord.

Psalm 71 is about God’s constant presence and Help. It’s about how David put his hope and trust in the Lord to deliver him from those that seek to harm and hurt him. πŸ™πŸ™ Psalm 78, is a reminder of how the children of Israel should hope in God, how they did in the past, and the consequences of not trusting and hoping in the Lord. It describes how they relied on their own understanding and took things into their own hands by running after false gods. Indeed , this is what happens when you give up hope and allow a spirit of discouragement and despair to take over you. It’s the opposite of hope. This is so ENCOURAGING to me, to not give into despair or discouragement but to HOPE in the Lord.

Here in South Africa, where I am based, the government is putting in place amendments to the Health Act, where people can be forced in quarantine facilities if they are deemed a health threat, then against their will given appropriate “medical treatment”. Those that are awake will already know what I am talking about, and it’s happening in other places of the world too.

But despite all this, Yah is tell me, He has everything under control, He is in control, I put my HOPE and TRUST in Him. He alone knows how to deliver and save His people. I know as we get closer to the DAY OF THE LORD, it’s also exciting for those believers that are giving their all to Lord Jesus Christ…πŸ€—πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ God has got us, we need to continue to HOPE IN HIM. He will guide us and tell us what to do, where to go, how to prepare for the END TIMES. I pray that we all do indeed increase in our Hope and faith in the Lord.
